Subaru Impreza WRX STi Spec C ready to rally| Fuji Heavy Industries, parent company of Subaru, has announced that it will submit a homologation application to the FIA for the Impreza WRX STi Spec C to rally as a Group N vehicle in 2006. 2006 Subaru Impreza: First Look| Back in January we published an article about the new 2006 Subaru WRX, and how it was expected to differ both stylistically and mechanically to the current 2005 model. Though not bang on the money - the headlights aren't as angular, and the brake lights aren't slim line - we weren't far from it, as the official photos evidence. The biggest change Subaru has made is to the grille that, with a little help from designer Andreas Zapatinas, is now more akin to the somewhat extraterrestrial design of the B9 Tribeca, which was designed to appeal to the hugely lucrative North America market. |
Subaru's New 2006 WRX STI| Since its inception in the early 1990s, Subaru's turbocharged 4-cylinder WRX has been a car that so many young lads have dreamt about, and many older boys drive about, all of whom are stirred by the vehicle's incredible performance, peachy pricepoint and even the trademark bonnet scoop. The worship of such a vehicle is often accompanied by so much passion that whenever a new model is launched, the ardent fans go stir crazy. Some would shout "It's a masterpiece" while others mock "Not even a mother could love a face like that". |
Subaru 2003 Impreza - First Look| Subaru has had an impressive year in 2002. Winning the vaunted 'Australia's Best Cars' award for recreational 4WD and the Brisbane-based Courier Mail's Outstanding Recreational Car - both won by the Forester X - the once small automaker is now a big name in new cars. And just when you thought everyone at Subaru was winding down for their Christmas parties and end-of-year bashes, the Japanese car maker announces the updated Impreza range, with a few pleasant surprises to boot. When the '02 Impreza arrived in late 2001, critics panned the styling, citing the 'bulbous' front end as horrendous. We weren't too keen on the look either - but, over time, we've come to appreciate it a little more. |
2003 Impreza WRX unveiled in Paris| While the MY02 Subaru Impreza first launched, with its Porsche-inspired bulbous headlights, many felt as though Subaru had taken a good thing and ruined it. Even we had opinions along these lines, but strangely, the new look is at last starting to grow on us. But the old circular headlights will be gone come December, when Subaru of Australia introduces the re-styled MY03 Impreza. While not a lot of info has come from Subaru, the recently-unveiled (we're talking today) Impreza WRX was officially launched at the Paris Motor Show - and we can expect more surprises early next week. |
The Subaru WRX STi is almost ready to go...| The Subaru Impreza WRX is the dream car of all tom-boy racers. It's got that mean bonnet scoop that sucks in copious amounts of cool, fresh air - forcing it straight onto the cars air-to-air intercooler. It's got that trademark rumbling boxer engine, it's agile, yet sure-footed and will get you from A to B quicker than most European exotics. It's quite difficult to put your finger on any one aspect that makes this car so desirable - yet it just is. Perhaps it's the unique power delivery that only a horizontally-opposed, four-cylinder engine can deliver, with its deep, menacing growl. |
